Your practice profile explains who you are, while your services define what patients can book. Both should be in good shape before you share your portal link or start inviting a larger team.
Practice profile basics
Your practice profile usually includes:
- Practice name
- Contact email and phone
- Address and timezone
- Logo and brand details
Keep this information current so patient-facing messages, staff context, and portal details stay accurate.
Why the profile matters
A complete profile helps Genkō present your practice clearly in the places patients and staff see most often:
- Self-booking flows in the patient portal
- Confirmation and reminder emails
- Internal operational context for your team
It also makes onboarding cleaner for new staff who need to understand how the practice is set up.
Services and appointment types
Services are the appointment types your practice offers. Each service can include:
- Name such as Initial Consultation
- Duration in minutes
- Description to explain what the visit covers
Service duration pre-fills when staff or patients book an appointment, which keeps scheduling consistent while still allowing staff to adjust the time when needed.
Managing services
Go to Settings → Services to manage your appointment types.
You can:
- Create a new service with a name, duration, and optional description
- Edit an existing service when your offering changes
- Archive a service you no longer want to book while keeping it visible in historical records
Archiving is usually better than deleting because it preserves context for past appointments.

Practical setup advice
Start with the smallest useful catalog:
- One longer new-patient visit
- One shorter follow-up visit
- Any specialized service that truly needs its own schedule rules
This makes staff booking easier and keeps the patient portal simple.
Plan-related service details
Service capabilities expand as plans grow:
- Free includes one service
- Solo and above unlock multiple services, optional appointment fees, and Stripe-powered paid booking
- Practice and above add per-service buffer time
Use these unlocks only when they solve a real operational need. Most practices should begin with a simple service list.
Recommended order
- Finalize your practice name and contact details
- Add a clean logo if you have one
- Create your core services
- Confirm durations are realistic before enabling self-booking
